Salted salo with appetizing meat layer is a favorite product of many Belarusians. Before serving, it is carefully salted, seasoned with fragrant spices, then left for a while in a cold place. Slices of salted or smoked salo are eaten separately as snack and can be used as an ingredient for many dishes of Belarusian cuisine. In addition, salo is added into the baked and minced meat. Finally, borsht can be seasoned with melted salo.
